Sept. 8 The Brasstown Valley A’s will hold its monthly meeting from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at Mariolino’s Italian Restaurant, 495 U.S. 64 Business in Hayesville. Sept. 10 Gospel singing will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, at Martins Creek Community Center. Food will be ready at 5 p.m. and the singing starts at 6 p.m. Singers will be The Spirit Led, Cecil and June Rogers from Robbinsville, The Hogsed Twins and others. There is no charge for the singing but donations are accepted. Funds from the sale of food will go toward upkeep of the building. Sept. 13 The public is invited to attend a Community Open House. on Tuesday, Sept. 13, to celebrate the new Angel Medical Center at 124 One Center Court in Franklin. The public can drop in anytime from 1-7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. The new hospital is scheduled to officially open on Sunday, Sept. 18.
Sept. 14 Shooting Creek Basket Weavers Guild will meet Wednesday, Sept. 14, in the community room of the Shooting Creek Volunteer Firehouse in Clay County. Refreshments will be available at 9:45 a.m., followed by the meeting at 10 a.m. Guest speaker will be Joan Stoneham, who will show how to weave a wine tote. Sept. 17 This year’s annual Pet Celebration will be held from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, on the square in downtown Hayesville followed with Gnarly Fingers concert. There will be demos, a pet parade, contests, silent auction, food, a blessing of the pets and a free kids carnival game area hosted by VRHS volunteers. All proceeds will be divided among participating animal advocates and shelters of the tri-county area, including VRHS. Everyone is invited.
